So in honor of my buddy Aaron getting hitched this weekend, I figured I'd dig out Gumbo and share it with the blogosphere. Back in 1994, before he became Mr. Transformers, Aaron set up Deadline Studios and created the character of Gumbo. Aaron handled the art and co-writing, while Jeff McCormack handled writing duties on the book. Even though Aaron had a large scale story plotted out, they only ever produced two issues (which ends on a helluva cliffhanger), but I still have them. My Gumbo t-shirt, on the other hand, is unfortunately long gone -- lost somewhere in moves between Florida and Michigan and Ohio. Regardless, here's a scan of Robin Lindsey's great painting for issue #1, and McCormack's painting for the cover of issue #2.
Like it says on the first page of the first issue of Gumbo, "When you lose time, it's forever." Savor the day, buddy. Congratulations! Here's wishing you and your bride a long, happy, healthy life together! Cheers!
